Interactive videos look like a fantastic resource for classroom education. One of the downsides we were discussing about normal videos is the lack of interaction between the viewer and the content being presented on the screen; with interactive videos, however, viewers can test themselves on the knowledge being transmitted to them in real-time. With interactive lists, multiple choice quizzes and fill-in-the-blanks options, the gap between a learner and video content is bridged and the learner can follow the video when they want and at their own pace, all while verifying their learnings along the way. It is a shame that this resource isn’t currently working for our class, but hopefully these issues will soon be resolved so we can begin incorporating these handy aspects into our lesson plans.
H5P also has an option for creating your own crosswords! This is a great opportunity for various subjects, particularly Humanities courses which rely on definitions and key terms. I could see myself basing crosswords off of relevant terms for poetry and storytelling units in my English classes, as well as more specific questions about characters or plot points for a class novel study. Students could also be asked to make their own crosswords and incorporate them into a project, which would help them apply their learning in a gamified fashion. I’ve included the link here: https://h5p.org/content-types/crossword
That’s it for this week. Go check out these resources!
